Call for Mail Art: Your Doctor Mail-Art-ified!

What's Your view on your Doctor?

Is he/she a good help to you and do you feel blessed by having this good health care giver? Or are you afraid, angry, bored and/or distrusting whenever you visit your doctor?

Or is he/she invisible to you as until now you didn't need medical care at all?

For this online exhibition I'm looking for mail art which shows your opinion about your doctor. A portrait, a situation, certain objects or whatever, as long as it shows your thoughts and/or feelings about him/her.

All 2D media by snail mail are welcomed, minimum postcard size (10x15 cms), maximum A4 (20x30 cms).

No jury, no fee, no return. All entries about doctors will be published here.

Ria Vanden Eynde

"Diagnosis"

"Doctors"

These excellent paintings were sent by Ria from Belgium.
I think they speak so much for themselves, no more words needed.

On her weblog Painting2Cancers you can find more work which Ria has been painting after two cancers, thyroid and breast (which have been diagnosed 5 resp. 4.5 years ago). Be sure to take a look!
The Dutch weblog is Beelden van 2 kankers.

I'd like to ask your attention for her very interesting mail art call about "Women artists changing bodies": The Body - Nothing Else.

Thanks a lot, hartelijk dank, Ria, voor deze treffende werken!

Lidia

Een echte Lidia!

"And? What do you think it is?"

This question, asked by the doctor him/herself, will be recognizable for at least Dutch patients.
Thank you, Lidia, hartelijk dank, for this tremendous collage!

More works made and/or spotted by Lidia you can find here.

Wilma Duguay

"I took a solemn oath
to heal all creatures
in the sea."

More Sea you can see in The Sea Exhibition.

Thank you, Wilma, also thanks for your other beautiful mail art!

José Manuel Figueiredo

José Manuel Figueiredo sent this mail art work from Portugal.
It might be hard to run fast, while hurrying to an emergency case, with footwear like these.Though no doubt these doctors succeed in reassuring their patients. Note the friendly and caring smile of the lady on the right, and the healthy (green) environment.

More art mail by José Manuel Figueiredo you can find here.
Muito obrigado, José!

Lindenhof

The very first contribution to the Your Doctor in Mail Art project comes from Lindenhof, Germany.
The images speak for themselves, although they can be interpreted in many ways! And might the position of the lighthouse on the stamp be part of some mixed feelings concerning doctors, or is it just as it is?

Vielen Dank, Lindenhof!

The website mentioned is http://www.behinder-mich-nicht.de/ .
More mail art collages from Lindenhof you can find searching Lindenhof and mail art.

What has a giraffe to do with a mail art call about doctors?

In fact not that much, though as a mail artist you might be interested in the One Million Giraffes project by Ola from Norway. You can upload any giraffe at onemilliongiraffes.com, as long as it is self made. And whenever you have an artist's block, you can find new inspiration while watching the various creations made by other people.

I post this Giraffe envelope here also to show you the irl mail address to which you can send Your (image of your) Doctor.

Looking forward to reading / seeing from you!
