Call for Mail Art: Your Doctor Mail-Art-ified!

What's Your view on your Doctor?

Is he/she a good help to you and do you feel blessed by having this good health care giver? Or are you afraid, angry, bored and/or distrusting whenever you visit your doctor?

Or is he/she invisible to you as until now you didn't need medical care at all?

For this online exhibition I'm looking for mail art which shows your opinion about your doctor. A portrait, a situation, certain objects or whatever, as long as it shows your thoughts and/or feelings about him/her.

All 2D media by snail mail are welcomed, minimum postcard size (10x15 cms), maximum A4 (20x30 cms).

No jury, no fee, no return. All entries about doctors will be published here.

Mariana Serban (2)

About two weeks after her first contribution, Mariana Serban surprised me with this new mail art.
Thank you very much, mulțumesc mult, Mariana!

Alex Vlasiu

Received from Romania, from Alex Vlasiu, this fine drawing.
These pictures of x-rays, they remind me of the radiologist, an unseen and almost unknown doctor.

Thank you very much, mulțumesc mult Alex!

Fulgor C. Silvi (4)

Received from Fulgor C. Silvi. And yes, I still have to reply, to both Mr. Fulgor and to the - already finished? - Networker Congress - please have a little more patience!..

Fulgor C. Silvi (3)

Very happy to receive the third contribution by Fulgor C. Silvi from Italy.
With two announcements of two congresses: on the stamp below the surgeons' congress which took place last week, and above an implicit invitation to join the (mail art!) Decentralized Networker Congress 2012 which will take place from 2nd to 4th November.

Grazie mille, Fulgor!

Great stamped Doctor's collage, made and sent by Lubomyr Tymkiv from Ukraine.
Accompanied by this special Fluxus rubber stamp print and some piece to add-to-and-return for the Stamps Heart mail art project.

Thank you very much, Lubomyr!

"E" (4)

Received from "E" from Utopia / France, these rubber stamped doctor's portraits (or patient's portraits?).

Below: I was amazed to see that the French Post managed to find the right place to add their own stamp, between the nice large amount of mail art stamps.

Merci beaucoup, "E"!

Eva

The best thing to do - to become/stay healthy - is to keep the doctor away.
Eva sent this collage of signs of - what we at home call - 'vitamine bombs' aka 'sport-candies'. And since I received this mail art, I am convinced that Fruits are Doctors, too.

Also the advice on the postage stamps ('don't contaminate/pollute') to provide us with clean air, earth and water, of course is an important one.

Moltse gràcies, Eva!
By the way, did you know that there are many collectors of fruit stickers? See for instance here, here, and a large collection here. And besides of using to make mail art, fruit stickers also can help making pointillistic paintings. Furthermore, the numbers on the stickers are solvable codes.
(Meanwhile fruitstickers are threatened with extinction, er, dissolving.)

Guido Vermeulen (3)

Not really intended for this Your Doctor in Mail Art project, I guess, but as a reply to my Trees (which are good for health, too!). However the true words above made me choose to publish this nice mail art from Guido Vermeulen here.
It's not 'your doctor in mail art', but rather 'your doctor is mail art'!

'Xerographics', edition 46/50

Check the 2012 mail art project of Guido:
- REBEL REBEL, movements of contestation
Also you can contribute to his ongoing projects:
- TREES, documented on IUOMA
- KIEKJESDIEF, photos to document our own existenZ,
- LAMUSAR, art inspired by music and literature.
By the way: the painted envelope below is named 'Wild is the Wind', a tribute to Nina Simone.

Hartelijk dank, Guido!

La consulta del Dr.

Although at first sight this card not really seems to be mail art, the original backside has been altered*), the subject is 'doctor' and it has been sent by post. So definitely accepted for this YDiMA mail art blog!

'La consulta del Dr.' (the Doctor's consulting room) is a good example for health professionals' practice: add favourite music to the waiting/consultation-room and hospital wards, and patients' health might improve even faster.

(Though lack of nocturnal sleep will undo the health effect, then...)

*) altered first by Eva by putting some white paper and writings on it, then by me because of privacy reasons :-) Hope you won't mind, Eva!)

Moltes gràcies, Eva!
